Job description
In the capacity of an Agile coach, the consultant is responsible for taking up lead roles in executing key engagements of rolling out Agile to projects/programs/organizations and train, mentor and coach teams. They need to build plans and help in implementing Agile principles based on Scrum, Kanban, XP etc. The Coach is also responsible for creating approach notes, responses to RFPs, making presentations to customers, and helping with business development while working at customer sites. Along with customer work, this is a weekly requirement.
In the capacity of Agile Transformation, the consultant is expected to work with Senior and Operational Management to plan out hybrid Agile models, create transformation roadmaps and solutions, and lead organizations as they make the change to Agile or seeking to improve their existing Agile capabilities.
Qualification & Skills
Qualifications
- Experience leading or co-leading Agile Transformation, preferably for multiple customers.
- 12-15+ years relevant targeted experience in Agile.
- Familiarity with multiple "flavors" of agile, including both process and engineering practices including Scrum, XP, Kanban, TDD, CI/CD, DevOps, etc.
- Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques and Patterns: ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games
- Familiarity with industry Enterprise Agile frameworks such as SAFe, DAD, LeSS, Spotify, etc.
- Relevant qualification across Agile and LEAN domains, with a preference to LEAN IT Kaizen or LEAN Six Sigma.
- Pragmatic balance between "agile theory" and in-the-trenches decision-making on practices
- Experience leading programs, projects, or teams; prefer experience in leading or helping to lead Agile Transformation from Waterfall to Agile.
- Prefer candidates who have led Agile Scrum/XP engagements, including Agile/DevOps transformation. Have hands-on experience in managing medium to large transformation programs Agile/DevOps.
- Good knowledge of LEAN practices, principles, and tools (Agile/DevOps) and LEAN Software Engineering techniques
- Good knowledge and coaching skills on Agile Manifesto.
- Value stream mapping, prototyping, customer interviews, learning, optimizing, A/B Testing, identification and Measurement of value-based metrics.
- Define and refine a LEAN Software Engineering coaching plan based on assessments and observations of the current Waterfall and Agile principles and practices.
- Facilitate forums and LEAN experiments to continuously improve on the ways of working with feature teams.
- Passion for transforming teams to align with LEAN value delivery.
- Experience with distributed as well as collocated teams.
- Strong facilitation and listening skills.

General Responsibilities
- Leading and/or enabling Agile Transformation activities for Enterprises, Lines of Business, Programs, Teams, and individuals.
- Provide Training and hands on coaching to agile teams for pilots and programs of all sizes (internal and external teams) and at the same time groom existing pool of consultants to become agile coach.
- Facilitate team sessions (e.g., charter, manifesto, retro), enabling team members to participate.
- Foster a common development culture across the customer organization.
- Spot common problems and solution patterns which multiple teams can apply.
- Provide an outsider's perspective; reflect it back to each team constructively.
- Facilitate cross-team communication and collaboration.
- Be a change agent in the team, program, or organization.
- Ability to teach and mentor on Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, Automation, and/or other agile engineering practices.
- Experience managing or coaching management on a multi-team agile adoption.
- Capture learning from engagements to extend our offerings and internal Agile framework.
- Drive in establishing Communities of Practice (CoP) from an Agile way of working and in achieving the lean agile mindset.
Key Considerations
- Exposure to multiple environments during Transformation programs.
- Experience of working at Organizational and Portfolio level, doing Org Design, Enterprise Governance.
- Experience of dealing with (or better coaching) senior executive stakeholders, someone who has likely held a senior position in the past.
Operations
- Looking for someone who cares about the success of the practice as well as the customer - several hours a week are required to help with business development activities, growing accounts, helping create new offerings, supporting propels and responses, supporting team members.
- Lead Agile consulting engagements at customer locations and deliver solutions as per the customer expectations including Coaching, Training, Assessment, Tools and Engineering practices review/support, and other activities as necessary.
- Keep yourself customer billed on consulting engagements by working to extend engagements, help find new engagements, and support other engagements.
- Manage delivery excellence through peer-review and working with the customer’s leadership.
- Work with practice leadership to create and deliver proposals for other customers as needed. Must be able to work with multiple levels of the organization and able to present publicly
Leadership
- Establish credibility and a strong presence in the region.
- Establish expectations and model behaviors that demonstrate service excellence to staff and focuses on both Wipro internal and external customer.
- Build industry thought leadership by publishing papers in international forums, pursuing public speaking opportunities in the region and collaboration with industry leaders
